Grove’s Jeff: My Trip to Croatia
by

Everyone is talking about Croatia, so I decided to see for myself by having a week’s holiday in Podstrana.

Part of the greater Split area yet very different, Podstrana is a low key beach resort around 7km South East of the city centre.

With historic buildings and medieval churches, the main attraction of Podstrana though is its beautiful beaches dotted with pine trees. The resort makes a good alternative to Split city centre, particularly if you are looking to combine a beach and cultural holiday.

We based ourselves at the eco-friendly four star Hotel Split on a bed and breakfast basis. Only 10 minutes away is the lovely town of Split, which within its white stone walls and under its courtyards, are some excellent cafes and bars at very reasonable prices. We managed to hire bikes and toured the Marjan Park, which gave us the opportunity to explore and discover wonderful bays to stop and cool off in!

One of the highlights also was an excursion to the waterfalls at the Krka River National Park which was well worth a visit.

All in all a fabulous destination and you’ve got a lot to choose from… so choose, decide and get going!
